Touch Point Church Ministries AWANA Program
Welcome to Touch Point Church Ministries
Pastor Obey and His Wife

For children in 1st through 6th grade
See Instructions Below to Register for AWANA

AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2nd Timothy 2:15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The mission of AWANA is to teach boys and girls the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them to serve him. It is also an effective vehicle for the participants to witness to other boys and girls and even their families.

AWANA is a national organization with ministries in all 50 states and in over 110 countries.  Although Touch Point Church Ministries is just starting our AWANA program, both our Pastor, Dr. Nathaniel W. Obey, Jr., and our First Lady, Regina Obey, have led or been involved in the Awana ministry since 1984.  Some of our other leaders have participated in the Awana ministry for the last 3 years as we have held it jointly with First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, MD.

Since AWANA's inception, numerous children have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and we are excited about the opportunity to reach the community of Beltsville and surrounding areas with this new ministry.

Click here for the AWANA Parent Handbook and general information.

Touch Point’s Children’s ministry is for children in the 1st through 6th grade. The ministry is divided into groups by age and/or gender. The ministry is held September through May on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.  The ministry time is from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Activities include scripture memorization, council time (an invitation to accept Jesus Christ is given at this time), game time, and snacks. Once a month, we have special Theme Nights to place lively emphasis on select scriptures.

A calendar will be made available to parents and guardians highlight any special events.  We also plan to participate in an Awana camp being held June.  More information regarding the camp will be made available later in the year.

The AWANA Ministry staff is comprised of dedicated and spirit filled Christians who have a love for children. Note that the safety of every child brought to our Awana ministry is our top priority.  All leaders are required to sign the necessary documentation, in order to be finger printed, and authorizing that a background check be performed on them that will verify that they do not have a history of child abuse.
